About the Press
The collection Os Mundos da História, edited by the Centre for the History of Society and Culture (CHSC), has as its mission and main goal to promote and disseminate scientific research concerning the History of Portugal. To that end, it supports research that contributes to new perspectives and debates within the historian's craft, and presents itself as a space for the publication of original, unpublished works of recognised quality and scientific merit.
The Collection is organised into two distinct editorial lines. The first, titled RaÃzes do historiador (The Historian’s Roots), will focus on editing and publishing medieval, modern and contemporary documentary sources of undeniable value and interest for research. In this, it aims to uphold a long-standing tradition in this field of research at the University of Coimbra, as well as to honour and promote specialised fields such as Palaeography, Sigillography and Codicology, which have always been fundamental for the CHSC team’s scientific profile.
The second editorial line of the collection, entitled O ofÃcio do historiador (The Historian’s Craft), is aimed at publishing the results of innovative research, open to different approaches to making History. It particularly welcomes works which open up new landscapes and broaden the horizons of questioning and reflecting the past. By applying the best practices in the publication and dissemination of scientific knowledge, it also intends to support the work of researchers at the early stages of their careers, facilitating the dissemination of their work to academic and specialised publics, both national and international.
In both cases, chosen works will be published as e-books with all due digital identifiers, with a view to scientific indexing and impact monitoring.
